Conventional connectors are good for regular arrays. However, for mouse implants, multiple implants and cluster arrays for more than 16 channels, it is the better choice to use our modular connector. This connector is much smaller that conventional one. The spacing between pins is 400 um. For arrays with 400+ spacing, the layout of the modular connectors is same to or smaller than the array layout. Gluing together several individual modular arrays will make a cluster of arrays.
This array is also good for mice because of limited space. You can also do multiple implants in mice that cannot be done with conventional connectors.
The difference between the modular arrays and the conventional arrays is shown in the figure at the right panel. The female matching connector is also available, witch can be used to make an adapter cable for your preamplifier.
